Job summary

Illinois 17th Circuit Court in Winnebago County, Rockford, IL is seeking a Court Bailiff to maintain order in courtrooms and jury rooms, assist judges with court proceedings, enforce security, and manage access for attorneys, litigants, interpreters, prisoners and the public.

The position is full-time, in-person, with 40 hours weekly, Monday through Friday, plus rotation on weekends, with benefits including IMRF Pension, health insurance, and county benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Knowledge of the justice system preferred.
• Security experience and EMT training preferred.
• Excellent organization, communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain order within courtrooms, jury rooms, chambers and secure hallways.
• Assist judges with court proceedings and scheduling matters for attendees.
• Support access to justice through professional interactions with the public and stakeholders.
• Maintain courtroom forms and supplies.
• Coordinate with the Sheriff’s Department on courthouse security during emergencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Office of the Chief Judge.
