Job summary

JobsQuest is seeking a Bailiff/Court Security professional for the Merit System in Alabama. The role involves facilitating court operations, guarding prisoners, screening visitors, and maintaining order in courtrooms and courthouses.

The position offers comprehensive benefits and a competitive pay range across Merit System agencies, with multiple locality scales in Jefferson County and surrounding areas. Target close date is 11/06/2026.

Qualifications

• Possession of valid driver’s license and ability to legally carry a firearm.
• Ability to obtain pepper spray certification within 90 days of hire, if required by jurisdiction.
• Willingness to work in a hostile environment and to restrain/detain individuals when required.
• Ability to meet physical demands including restraining and detaining individuals.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, maintain, and retrieve files to assist court officers before and during sessions.
• Prepare courtroom for hearings and manage defendant flow through the process.
• Provide customer service via phone, email or in person.
• Engage in professional development and awareness of field practices and laws.
• Provide security to the presiding judge and attendees, enforcing courtroom rules.
