Job summary

The City of Ann Arbor is seeking a Court Security Officer to provide judicial and courtroom security, maintain order, and support court operations under the supervision of the assigned judge.

This role requires a high school diploma, a Michigan driver’s license, no felony convictions, and successful completion of background checks, drug testing, LEIN certification, Taser and CPR training, plus two+ years of law enforcement experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Michigan Driver's License required.
  • No felony convictions.
  • Background check and drug test required.
  • Must pass LEIN operator certification within six months and recertify as applicable.
  • At least two years of experience as a law enforcement officer.
  • Must complete Taser and CPR training and recertify as applicable.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interact with attorneys, litigants, witnesses and the public calmly and impartially.
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Provide judicial and courtroom security and ancillary support to ensure safety and decorum.
  • Maintain order in the courtroom and assist with daily administrative tasks for court operations.
  • Serve as jury liaison for seated jurors and support related duties.
