Job summary

City of Ann Arbor is seeking a Judicial Security Officer to provide court security, maintain order, and support courtroom operations under the supervision of a judge. The role includes jury liaison duties and daily clerical tasks essential to court efficiency.

Requirements include a high school diploma, Michigan driver’s license, no felonies, background check, LEIN certification within six months, and 2+ years in law enforcement plus Taser/CPR training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid State of Michigan Driver’s License.
• No felony offense convictions.
• Criminal background check and drug test required.
• LEIN certification within six months of employment and recertification as applicable.
• Two or more years of experience as a law enforcement officer.
• Taser training and recertification.
• CPR training and recertification.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work independently and set priorities to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Good organizational, filing, verbal and writing skills.
• Computer literate, including the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Provide judicial security, courtroom security, and ancillary security support.
• Maintain order and decorum in the courtroom.
• Perform essential daily administrative and clerical functions for courtroom operations.
• Act as jury liaison for seated jurors.
• Interact professionally with attorneys, litigants, witnesses and the public.
