Job summary

The Alachua County Sheriff's Office seeks a certified Bailiff to maintain security and decorum in all courthouse functions, assist with emergencies, and manage security posts. They enforce the law within the courthouse and report to the Court Security Sergeant.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, FCJSTC/FDLE certification, and 21+ years of age. This role supports jurors, judges, and the public, with training and benefits provided by ACSO.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree or higher preferred in Law Enforcement or related field.
• Current, valid CJSTC/FDLE Law Enforcement Certification is required.
• Must be at least 21 years old and a U.S. citizen.

Responsibilities

• Provide security for judges, attorneys, witnesses, jurors, prisoners in custody, defendants, and the general public.
• Open court and manage security posts and court decorum.
• Respond to courthouse emergencies and assist with evacuations and alarms.
• Conduct security checks, control access, and monitor security equipment.
• Prepare and write factual reports as directed by procedures.
