Job summary

The Bailiff-Certified is an officer of the court appointed by the presiding judge, who ensures the security of all individuals who enter court offices (primarily the Judge, but also all staff, ancillary court staff, members of the public, parties and witnesses) and coordinates court activities to maintain a high level of safety, security and decorum within and around the courtroom.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and at least five years’ experience as a certified licensed peace officer or similar experience.
• Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provides security for the court; staff and the public.
• Maintains order during court proceedings and assists in jury management.
• Transports prisoners to/from detention facilities and executes warrants as required.
• Provides technical support for the court’s video system and manages docket related tasks.
• Performs data entry and handles court documents and papers.
