Job summary

Yavapai County is seeking a Court Security Officer to maintain safety and order in courtrooms, assist the public, and support judges and commissioners. The role includes screening for contraband, responding to emergencies, and backing security staff at entrances.

The position requires at least one year of relevant security experience, a valid Arizona driver’s license, and completion of the Court Security Officer Academy within 90 days of hire, plus COJET training annually.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of relevant experience in court security, law enforcement, military, private security, or closely related field.
• Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
• Must successfully complete the Court Security Officer Academy within ninety days of hire.
• Must comply with the Arizona Code of Conduct for Judicial Employees and complete COJET training annually.

Responsibilities

• Maintains security and order in the courtroom; assists public, witnesses, attorneys and jurors.
• Scans courtrooms for contraband and reports potential security concerns to management.
• Performs security sweeps and backs up armed court security staff at entrances.
• Operates metal detectors, hand-wands, and x-ray screening machines.
• Retrieves and manages court files and reviews documents for court and calendar information.
• Ensures courtroom readiness for daily use and jury trials.
• Answers phones, makes and distributes copies, maintains office supplies.
