Job summary

The Trial Court's Facilities Management division seeks a Facilities Supervisor II in Newton District Court to supervise custodial staff and manage maintenance, building systems, and security. You will coordinate tasks, oversee vendors, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Scheduled hours are Monday–Friday 7:00 am to 3:00 pm; travel between Newton, Ayer and Concord is required. This union position offers the entry-level rate with potential steps within the pay band and requires hands‑on

Qualifications

• High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency.
• At least five (5) years of related work experience, which may include time spent in an apprenticeship for a skilled trade license.
• License in a skilled trade is a plus
• Equivalent combinations of education and related experience will be considered for meeting minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Ensures Courthouses are presentable to Trial Court standards and the general public.
• Provides staff supervision for maintenance for Courthouse facilities.
• Operates standard building controls and reports any system failures.
• Operates building control systems.
• Manages job request computer system.
• Completes requests by outsourced vendors and contractors.
• Manages employees and distributes job tasks and direction.
• Prepares building status and/or incident reports for Manager of Facilities as needed.
• Initiates purchase requests and receives and distributes supplies.
• Develops programs or apply for incentive programs to operate more efficient cleaning practices.
• Oversees and performs all aspects of the building including cleaning, maintenance, building systems, exterior grounds, repairs, projects and equipment.
• Maintains a safe work environment and responds to facility emergencies and supervises in house projects.
• Conducts multiple, daily walk through of buildings.
• Coordinates preventative maintenance work on the mechanical workings of the building.
• Assists with upkeep for custodial equipment as necessary.
• Performs other duties as required.
