Job summary

Vallarta Supermarkets in Glendale, CA is seeking a Courtesy Clerk to provide fast, friendly service at the check stand, bag groceries carefully, assist customers with carry-out, and locate products. You will keep aisles and parking areas clean and safe while building positive customer experiences.

Qualifications

• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
• Friendly, service-oriented attitude.
• Ability to learn store product locations.
• Available to work afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and bag groceries quickly and carefully.
• Model Vallarta’s Core Values: customer service, commitment, integrity, respect, humility, and teamwork.
• Assist customers with carry-out service and locating products.
• Perform price checks as requested.
• Check and secure items at the bottom of shopping carts when trained.
• Perform 'go-backs' returning perishable and non-perishable items to shelves.
• Safely gather shopping carts using reflective vest and rope.
• Assist with spills, cleaning, restroom cleaning, sweeping, mopping, and trash removal (if trained).
• Clean store perimeters, including cart corrals and parking lot.
• Monitor and report building maintenance needs or safety hazards.
• Keep janitorial room organized and stocked with approved supplies (if trained).
• Always maintain high housekeeping and safety standards.
• Treat coworkers and customers respectfully at all times.
• Abide by all store rules and policies.
• Report injuries, unsafe conditions, or misconduct to management.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

About the Role

The Courtesy Clerk provides excellent customer service at the check stand by bagging groceries quickly and carefully,assistingcustomers with carry-out, and helping themlocateproducts. Courtesy Clerks also collect shopping carts,maintaincleanliness in the store and parking lot, and perform custodial duties to keep facilities safe, clean, andwelcoming forcustomers.

Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk constantly (6–8+ hours/day).
• Frequently bend neck/waist, squat, twist, and reach above/below shoulders.
• Frequent use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
• Lift and carry up to 25 lbs.frequently, and up to 40 lbs. occasionally (e.g., dog food bags).
• Heaviest itemrequiredto carry: 40 lbs., up to 40 feet.
• Operate manual pallet jacks safely (buddy systemrequiredfor pallets).
• Work near equipment/machinery and on uneven ground.
• Exposure todust, gas, fumes, temperature, and humidity changes.
