Job summary

Alachua County Sheriff's Office in Florida seeks a responsible criminal justice professional to supervise pretrial defendants and sentenced offenders, and to conduct pretrial release investigations. The role serves as a liaison between the Department, the Court system and partner agencies, attending court hearings and ensuring program fidelity.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 2 years of relevant experience, plus a Florida license and CJIS certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, behavioral sciences, social work, counseling or related field and two years of related, professional experience; or equivalent combination.
• Valid Florida Driver License required with MVR review prior to employment.
• CJIS Certification within one month of employment; recertification every two years.
• NAPSA CPSP certification required for Court Officers in Pretrial within one year; recertification every three years.
• Background checks pre-hire and ongoing.

Responsibilities

• Provide community supervision of pretrial defendants and sentenced offenders.
• Attend Court hearings and monitor Court proceedings as liaison between the department and Court system.
• Conduct screens and assessments for risk and need; develop release/supervision plans.
• Supervise caseloads and develop release/detention and case plan recommendations.
• Represent the Department at Court proceedings and conduct field visits to verify client compliance.

Education

Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, behavioral sciences, social work, counseling or related field
