Job summary

Kansas Judicial Branch in Topeka, KS is seeking a Court Services Officer I to supervise offenders under court jurisdiction and assist in preparing reports for the court.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a social services field, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to pass background checks. Upon successful completion of 12 months of probation, limited remote work privileges may be considered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a social services field from an accredited university is required.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• All applicants must pass a named-based criminal history check.
• If employed by Court Services, the new employee will need to pass a fingerprint-based criminal history check within the first thirty days of employment

Responsibilities

• Supervision of offenders on pretrial and probation supervision.
• Assisting offenders in understanding and meeting requirements that have been placed upon them
• Assisting offenders in identifying needs and appropriate resources.
• Attending morning First Appearance dockets and preparing criminal history reports.
• Preparation of reports related to the transfer of supervision, case reports, violation reports, risk assessments (LSIR, LSCMI, WRNA, SASSI)
• Works closely with resource agencies in the community.
• Maintaining current and accurate case records.
• Work is performed independently or in teams under the general direction of a senior Court Services Officer and is reviewed through staffing, reports, and caseload audits.
