Livingston County is seeking a Court Security Officer to oversee judicial safety, courtroom security, building safety, and related functions in a courthouse. The role ensures a safe environment for judges, staff, and the public across assigned facilities.

Starting pay is $24.46/hr with potential step increases up to $30.98/hr within the Non-Union Grade 5 wage scale. This is a non-union, on-site position with comprehensive benefits and a strong emphasis on public safety and professional conduct.

Formación

• High school diploma and a minimum of ten years of experience in a law enforcement setting.
• MCOLES certified preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of law enforcement and security protocols.
• Ability to use sound independent judgment within established policy and procedural guidelines.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships and use good judgment, initiative and resourcefulness when dealing with court personnel, juries, County employees and the public.

Responsabilidades

• Responsible for the opening and closing of the secured facilities to the public.
• Performs security patrols and conducts contraband/weapons searches of the courtrooms and interior areas.
• Provides protection for judicial officials, jurors, witnesses, and the public during proceedings.
• Performs security and contraband searches of exterior areas of the courthouse.
• Directs the opening and closing of courtrooms.
• Provides public safety response in emergency situations and makes requests for needed assistance.
• Assumes custody of individuals remanded into custody by the Judge.
• Monitors public and private entrances and corridors.
• Maintains control of prisoners in the courtrooms and holding areas during movement.
• Maintains public safety, order, and decorum in an assigned courtroom and coordinates with media.
• Coordinates with other law enforcement agencies for threats or safety concerns.
• Conducts investigations and prepares reports on incidents within the courts.
• Enforces court or facility policies and rules.
• Renders basic emergency care to citizens and employees when appropriate.
• Assists the Court with Preliminary Breath Test, Swab Drug Test, and other tasks.
• Ensures no weapons are brought into the courthouse and manages disruptive individuals.
• Makes physical arrests as needed to maintain court operations.
