Job summary

State of Michigan 36th District Court in Detroit is hiring a Part-Time Court Security Officer (Contractual, Non-Represented, up to 30 hours per week). The salary is $22.50 to $27.00 hourly. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; some coursework in law enforcement preferred.
• Five years of prior law enforcement courtroom security experience required.
• Must be qualified to carry a firearm and have a concealed weapon permit; CPR/First Aid within six months.

Responsibilities

• Maintain security and order in the Court facility and provide a visible presence.
• Protect judges, magistrates, staff and the public.
• Open assigned courtroom and coordinate required attendees.
• Maintain vigilance to defuse or prevent threats and restore order.
• Observe entrants and restrict access to restricted areas.
• Escort prisoners using restraints as assigned.
• Maintain security of prisoners in courtrooms.
• Assist in security for high-profile cases as directed.
• Prepare incident reports as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Security Director.
