Responsibilities
- Enforce the district's entry and identification system.
- Test and report emergency equipment.
- Patrol court facilities and grounds according to post orders.
- Manage USMS authorized stationary posts.
- Provide surveillance on entrances to detect threats.
- Offer armed escort services for judges, court personnel, jurors, and others.
- Secure off-site and remote judicial functions with controlled access and screening.
- Direct traffic, control lights, and monitor vehicles and pedestrians.
- Provide courtroom security during hearings, enforce laws and orders.
- Handle articles found in facilities, report incidents within 24 hours.
- Inform supervisors of unusual events, monitor alarms and radio traffic.
- Respond to alarms, requests for assistance, and criminal acts.
- Screen vehicles and pedestrians entering/exiting facilities.
- Use issued equipment properly and prevent unauthorized items.
- Escort individuals/vehicles as per protocols.
- Maintain necessary licenses, certifications, and training records.
- Communicate via radios and phones appropriately.
- Report loss or damage of equipment immediately.
- Perform duties in all weather conditions.
- Log property movements and ensure security of government property.
- Conduct regular building and fence line patrols.
- Issue badges and monitor electronic access controls and RFID systems.
- Authorize access during non-working hours for approved personnel.
- Monitor facility systems and report deficiencies.
- Perform surveillance for unauthorized or inappropriate activity.
- Support scheduled events and emergencies as needed.
- Maintain logs and cooperate with law enforcement, testify if required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least 21 years old.
- Minimum 3 years of civilian law enforcement or military experience with arrest authority within the last 7 years.
- Completed a recognized law enforcement training academy.
- Pass pre-placement screening, background check, drug test, and physical exam.
- Valid, unrestricted state driver's license.
- Fluent in English, capable of report writing.
- Meet medical and physical requirements, free of felony convictions and domestic violence misdemeanors.
Physical Demands
- Extensive sitting, walking, and surveillance outside in various weather conditions.
- Perform physical activities like kneeling, stooping, and climbing.
