Responsibilities
- Enforce the district's entry and identification system.
- Test and report emergency equipment.
- Patrol court facilities and grounds according to post orders.
- Man USMS authorized stationary posts.
- Provide surveillance on incoming traffic to detect threats before reaching the screening area.
- May provide armed escort services for judges, court personnel, jurors, and other designated individuals.
- Provide security for off-site and remote judicial functions with controlled access and screening.
- Direct traffic, control lights, and monitor vehicles and pedestrians as per post orders.
- Provide courtroom security during hearings when assigned.
- Enforce federal law and judicial orders within the courthouse.
- Report and handle articles found in court facilities, completing required documentation within 24 hours.
- Keep supervisors informed of unusual occurrences and important events.
- Monitor alarms, radio traffic, and other sources; dispatch or inform others as needed.
- Respond to alarms, requests for assistance, and criminal acts.
- Screen vehicles and pedestrians entering/exiting the facility.
- Use issued equipment properly.
- Prevent prohibited articles from entering or leaving the facility.
- Escort individuals or vehicles as per post orders.
- Maintain necessary licenses, certifications, and training records.
- Use communication devices appropriately.
- Monitor equipment and report damages or losses.
- Perform duties regardless of weather conditions.
- Log property pass numbers for authorized movements.
- Ensure security of government property, detain personnel when needed, and report unauthorized removals.
- Conduct regular patrols and inspections.
- Issue badges or passes to authorized personnel.
- Monitor electronic access control and RFID systems; respond to alarms.
- Grant access during non-working hours to authorized personnel.
- Report deficiencies in facility equipment and utility systems.
- Perform surveillance for unauthorized or inappropriate activity.
- Support scheduled events and emergencies as needed.
- Maintain logs and administrative documents.
- Cooperate with law enforcement; assist in evidence collection and testify as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least 21 years old.
- Minimum of 3 years of civilian law enforcement experience or equivalent military service with arrest authority within the last 7 years.
- Completion of recognized law enforcement training academy or program.
- Successful completion of background checks, drug tests, and physical exams.
- Valid, unrestricted state driver's license.
- Fluent in English reading, speaking, and writing.
- Meet medical and physical fitness requirements.
- No felony convictions or misdemeanor domestic violence convictions.
- Physical ability to perform duties in various weather conditions and physical activities.
