Job summary

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office in Pennsylvania seeks a Deputy Sheriff I - Judicial to enforce and protect the Courts’ duties under the Sheriff or Chief Deputy Sheriff.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and Act 2 certification readiness, with training provided. Must pass background checks and maintain a professional demeanor while coordinating with multiple agencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Act 2 certification or waiver obtainable with training.
• Pass background investigations and maintain standards for deputy status.
• Some law enforcement and computer training recommended.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and orderly conduct in courtrooms and county property.
• Perform law enforcement and peacekeeping duties within Franklin County.
• Transport and guard prisoners; use restraining devices as needed.
• Prepare and file incident reports and criminal charges.
• Testify in Court when required.
• Maintain law and order during strikes, riots, or disasters.
• Provide protective services to the Court when requested.
• Handle paperwork involving release, incarceration, and transportation of prisoners.
• Inspect courtrooms and housing areas; quell disturbances with approved methods.
• Serve warrants, writs, summons, notices and subpoenas.
• Utilize radios, handcuffs, weapons, computers, and vehicles as needed.
• Collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies; work with public professionally.
• Extradite and transport prisoners as required; may involve travel beyond US.
• Complete new hire field training and onboarding successfully.
