Job summary

Durango Police Department seeks a P.O.S.T.-certified officer to serve as Durango Municipal Court Marshal, providing uniformed security during Municipal Court proceedings and City Council meetings. You’ll monitor entrances, conduct security checks, respond to disruptions, and transport detainees as needed, including overnight trips to regional juvenile facilities.

As a sworn officer, you’ll also support the Police Department with patrol and emergency response duties, crime prevention, and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license and P.O.S.T. certificate required.
• Ability to pass pre-employment tests including background check, drug screen and psych evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Provide uniformed security during Municipal Court proceedings and City Council meetings.
• Monitor court entrances and conduct security checks; respond to disruptions.
• Transport detainees to court and regional detention centers as needed, including overnight stays.
• Support police operations with patrol, crime prevention, emergency response and community service.
• Take part in investigations, testify in court, and attend required training.
