Job summary

The South Carolina Judicial Branch is seeking an experienced Court Reporter III to produce accurate verbatim records of court proceedings throughout the state. This role requires handling transcripts, maintaining records, and complying with official procedures under supervision.

Responsibilities include operating stenographic or digital equipment, preparing certified transcripts, and responding to transcript requests while upholding confidentiality and professional standards.

Qualifications

• Verbatim court reporting experience and knowledge of transcript preparation requirements.
• Familiarity with hearing procedures, procedures for file retention, and confidentiality.
• Proficiency in time‑stamped annotations and transcript certification.
• Ability to operate stenographic or voice writing methods and relevant equipment.

Responsibilities

• Attend court proceedings and create verbatim recordings with stenographic, voice writing, or digital methods.
• Prepare certified transcripts, including proofreading and assembling trial indexes.
• Maintain confidentiality and secure handling of official records per policy.
• Submit timesheets and reports on time; assist judges and staff as needed.
