Benefits to you

  • We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees [OR up to 99% of medical insurance premiums for part-time employees], including mental health coverage.

  • The hourly equivalent for this position is $25.55 - $39.64. [OR The annual salary for this position is $53,136 - $82,440.]

  • 10 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, 3 personal business days, separate sick and vacation paid leaves (prorated for part-time employees), and other employee benefits such as optional insurances and flexible spending plans.

  • OJD will pay you a 5% allowance for bilingual skills (includes ASL) if you can pass a skills test and are assigned to use those skills on the job!

  • In this job profile, we offer candidates new to OJD up to the second step of the salary range, depending on experience. You are potentially eligible for a 5% annual increase.

Position Highlights

The Lane County Circuit Court in Eugene, Oregon, is hiring a Court Operations Associate.

In this role…

You will provide clerical support for the court by processing and managing all case types, performing data entry, and determining the appropriate next steps in multistep processes. You will receipt court fees, schedule hearings and trials, prepare and distribute court dockets, accept electronic filings, ensure the proper issuing of court notices, review reports related to case statuses, scan documents into the case management system and verify image quality, and respond to records requests by providing copies and assessing fees. You will also take necessary steps on complex transactions involving warrants, attorney appointments, show-cause scheduling, license suspensions or recalls, recordation of judgments, and payment plans.

Additionally, you will provide customer service in person, over the phone, and in writing by answering questions from court staff, attorneys, litigants, other agencies, and the public about topics such as local procedures, case statuses, court calendars, document entry, case processing, scheduling court proceedings, and jury duty. You will process juror summonses, deferrals, excusals, and payroll, as well as check in jurors for jury duty and provide juror orientation. Part of your time will be spent interviewing defendants to determine their eligibility for court-appointed counsel and making recommendations to judges.

Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

Minimum Qualifications

The qualified applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

AND

Have at least three (3) or more years of responsible experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.

OR

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to three (3) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

  • Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks with strict deadlines in a busy business or professional setting.

Working Conditions

  • These are full-time positions, and the work schedule is typically 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. These positions are eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per work week.

  • Occasional after-hours or overtime work may be required.

  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds.

  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people who may be facing challenging life circumstances, highly stressful situations, or trauma.

  • Long periods of sitting or standing to process a high volume of work.

  • The following equipment may be used: telephone, calculator, OJD-assigned computer with multiple monitors, printer, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner.
