Job summary

The Court Marshal position with the King County Sheriff's Office offers opportunities to serve across multiple King County court locations in Seattle and Kent. Marshals work in fixed posts, provide courtroom security, and respond to a variety of calls while maintaining public order.

Qualified candidates must be certified by a WA law enforcement academy, possess or obtain a WA Peace Officer Certificate, and meet citizenship and English‑language requirements.

Qualifications

• Must have graduated from a certified law enforcement academy that meets or exceeds Washington State standards.
• Must be able to obtain a valid Washington State Peace Officer Certificate.
• Out-of-state hires must complete the WA State equivalency academy.

Responsibilities

• Marshal duties include fixed security posts and foot patrols in court facilities.
• Make warrant arrests and take defendants into custody on court orders.
• Provide courtroom presence and respond to calls for service; investigate incidents and write case reports.
