Job summary

Cayuse Language Connect, LLC is seeking Indigenous Mexican Language Interpreters to provide real-time court interpretation in various legal settings. The role calls for native or near-native fluency in English and one of several Indigenous Mexican languages, with confidentiality and impartiality as core requirements.

The position is part-time hourly non-exempt and remote, with interpreters onsite as needed by courts.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
3+ years of court interpretation, immigration, trafficking hearings.
Native or near-native fluency in English and Indigenous Mexican Languages: Nahuatl, Yucatec Maya, Tzeltal & Tzotzil, Mixtec, Zapotec, Otomi.
Familiarity with legal terminology.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and act impartially.

Responsibilities

Accurately interpret spoken communication in real time within court settings.
Facilitate cross-cultural understanding and clarify non-verbal concepts when necessary.
Maintain strict confidentiality and impartiality in all interactions.
Complete required documentation, logs, and reports per protocols.
Comply with applicable laws, policies, and codes of professional conduct.
Other duties as assigned.
