City of Phoenix in Phoenix, AZ is seeking Court Interpreters to provide Spanish interpretation and translation services during Municipal Court proceedings and related events.
Two years of experience in court interpreting, bilingual Spanish, and eligibility to obtain Tier 3 or Tier 4 certification within 24 months are required or pursued. This full-time role may include a job-share option with prorated benefits.
The Municipal Court provides equal access to justice, professional and impartial treatment, and the fair and time resolution of all court matters. Municipal Court performs their responsibilities in a manner that serves to maintain the public's trust and confidence in the Court as an institution and to enhance the public's respect for the rule of law, while preserving and protecting individual rights guaranteed under the constitution.
Court Interpreters provide Spanish language interpreting and translation services to the non-English speaking public during all Municipal Court proceedings and other court-related events. Court Interpreters are responsible for the simultaneous and consecutive interpreting services of court proceedings, as well as sight and written translation of court-related documents. Incumbents work under the direct supervision of the Court Interpreter Supervisor, who, evaluates performance based on the quality of service provided and results achieved.
The Phoenix Municipal Court is currently looking to fill one full time Court Interpreter position and one job share position. Job share hours can vary due to two employees working part-time schedules to fill one 40-hours a week position.
Candidates that do not currently hold a Tier 3 or Tier 4 certification from the Arizona Court Interpreter Credentialing Program may be considered for this vacancy and will be required to obtain the appropriate level of certification within 24 months from date of hire.
Pay Range: $22.52 - $33.27.
Hiring Range: $22.52 - $30.17.

Job Share Benefits are provided on a prorated 50% basis regardless of the split of hours between the employees. Part-time employees are eligible for earned paid sick time, city training, and free or discounted bus and light rail fares.
