Job summary

Snohomish County is seeking a security professional to safeguard county campuses, courts and justice centers while coordinating with law enforcement and court officials.

The role requires WA-certified officer experience or active reserve service, a WA-accredited academy, and eligibility to carry firearms. A 21+ age, citizenship or DACA status, and successful background checks are required.

Qualifications

• One year experience as a full time, sworn, fully commissioned officer in a civilian law enforcement agency; OR three years continuous experience as an active reserve law enforcement officer in WA.
• Must have graduated from a certified law enforcement academy meeting WA standards.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or DACA recipient per RCW 41.14.100; and at least 21 years old.
• High School diploma or GED.
• Must pass job related tests.

Responsibilities

• Patrols and inspects grounds and buildings within assigned jurisdiction.
• Enforces laws applicable to the jurisdiction.
• Maintains order during court proceedings and events.
• Searches individuals and packages; seizes weapons and contraband.
• Responds to incidents; secures scenes; gathers evidence and interviews witnesses.
• Arrests individuals with warrants; transports and books into jail; testifies when required.
• Responds to alarms; assists in evacuations; reports injuries or accidents; administers first aid when needed.
• Monitors security entrances and contracted staff.
• Interacts with the media to relay information during events and court hearings.
• Directs the public to appropriate county offices and updates facility information.
