Job summary

Pennington County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a Civil Deputy to serve civil documents and execute court orders under the direction of the Civil Sergeant. Responsibilities include serving writs, tax collection, foreclosures, and eviction notices, while maintaining confidentiality and professional interaction with the public and agencies.

The role requires a HS Diploma or GED and at least 1 year of relevant experience, with a valid SD driver’s license within 90 days of moving to South Dakota.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of customer service, collections and/or property management experience.
• Must obtain a valid SD driver’s license within 90 days of moving to SD.

Responsibilities

• Serve civil documents and execute court orders.
• Manage Sheriff’s sales, tax collection, foreclosures, and related fees.
• Coordinate with plaintiffs and other parties during processes.
• Serve eviction notices and coordinate removal of people and property.
• Maintain knowledge of duties and ensure responses are documented.
