Cameron County is looking for a Court Assistant I to perform clerical work supporting court proceedings, maintain accurate records, and assist with financial transactions. The role involves processing civil, traffic, and related warrants, and ensuring records comply with civil procedure rules.
The position requires a high school diploma or GED and two years of secretarial/administrative experience in a criminal justice or legal setting, plus a Texas driver license.
PAY PLAN: 107 - $ 31,422.00 minimum salary
Performs clerical work in support of assigned court proceedings. Duties include creating and maintaining accurate records of all court proceedings, including claims, and writs of execution, and to properly maintain the records following the Rules of Civil Procedure Positions in this class perform routine transcript reconciliation and identify needed corrective actions to resolve discrepancies; answer questions; and maintain court proceedings documents and records.

High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by two (2) years of experience performing secretarial and/or administrative support work in a criminal justice system or legal environment; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must have a valid Texas Driver's License.
Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
This is a Civil Service covered position. Testing requirements will follow section 2.32 of the Civil Service Rules and Regulations Handbook. Probationary period will follow section 2.35 of the Civil Service Rules and Regulations Handbook.
