Job summary

WH Wheeling Hospital Inc. in Wheeling, West Virginia is seeking a Driver to transport medical supplies, lab specimens, equipment, and related items between healthcare facilities.

This on-site, non-exempt role supports the hospital’s supply chain operations. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving history, and a current DOT medical card within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides timely pickup and delivery of all packages – includes mail, lab specimens, medical supplies, forms, equipment, linen and records.
• Collaborates with supply chain staff to obtain correct supplies and paperwork to ensure deliveries are organized and complete.
• Adheres to delivery schedule and reports back to the hospital once deliveries are complete.
• Performs a routine cleaning of vehicles.
• Coordinates with supervisor to monitor assigned vehicles for maintenance and shuttles vehicles to repair facility as directed.
• On an as-needed basis, performs other duties within Supply Chain to ensure continuity of materials throughout the hospital.
• Ensures that no access to company vehicles by non-employees during deliveries.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving history

To be completed as established by department: (Administered at Department level)

• Must have current DOT medical card within 60 days of hire

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides timely pickup and delivery of all packages – includes but not limited to mail, lab specimens, medical supplies, forms, equipment, clean/soiled linen and medical/non-medical records.
• Collaborates with supply chain staff to obtain the correct supplies and paperwork to ensure supply orders are delivered organized and complete.
• Adheres to delivery schedule and reports back to the hospital once deliveries are complete.
• Performs a routine cleaning of vehicles.
• Coordinates with supervisor to monitor assigned vehicles for needed maintenance and repairs and shuttles such vehicles to repair facility designated by the supervisor.
• On an as-needed basis, performs other duties within Supply Chain to ensure the continuity of materials supplies throughout the hospital
• Ensures that anyone not employed by the WVU Medicine does not have access to nor is allowed in company vehicles during any delivery or in the presence of any medical supplies that have not been delivered.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to stand and walk short distances for eight or more hours.
• Frequent bending, stooping or stretching.
• Ability to routinely lift and carry (50) pounds and be able to push 80 pounds.
• Normal vision and hearing range.
• Requires working under stressful conditions.
• Adhere to WVUHS Driver safety and safety policies.
• Ability to withstand and prioritize rapid pace of events.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

• Hospital Truck, Supply Stockroom, Loading Dock, and Medical Offices, inclement weather throughout the year

Skills And Abilities

• Must be dependable and detail oriented
• Must demonstrate good communication skills.
• Driver’s license, good driving record and ability to operate large trucks.
• Ability to work independently of direct supervision
• Ability to operate pallet jacks
