Job summary

Huntsville Hospital is seeking a dedicated courier to procure and deliver supplies, specimens, and equipment between Northwest Alabama Health Care affiliates. The role emphasizes timely specimen handling and accurate billing information before leaving the office.

You will serve as a liaison between physician offices and department leadership, foster a strong lab-client link, and process supply orders with approved policies.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Must have a valid state driver’s license and be at least 18 years old.
• Experience with office work and computer/word processing applications preferred.

• Performs lab courier services to our clients; securing specimens in a timely manner.
• Acts as liaison between physician offices and department director assuring that problems and concerns are handled appropriately.
• Develops a strong communication link between the lab and physician client.
• Fills supply orders using approved policies.
• Orders test and labels tubes with minimal errors.
• Performs requisition checking to assure correctness and completion.
• Takes copies of requisitions to admitting in a timely manner.

• Experience: Previous office work with knowledge of computer/word processing applications preferred. Material Management experience preferred. Previous experience helpful.
• Additional Skills/Abilities: Must have a valid state driver’s license. Must be at least 18 years of age or as required by the hospital insurance carrier. Above average communication skills. Computer or typewriter experience helpful.
