Job summary

Milton Hershey School (MHS) in Hershey, PA, invites married couples to join as Full-time Flex Houseparents. The role involves residing in on-campus student homes, supervising a group of 8-13 students, and providing guidance to foster academic, emotional, and social development.

Initially, couples work nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off, with a transition to a Placed Houseparent role living with the same group.

Qualifications

• Experience working or volunteering with youth.
• Two-person role for couples married for at least two years.
• Both spouses must be age 27 or older.
• No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home.
• Campus is smoke-free and weapon-free; no alcohol on duty.
• Pet limitations: fish and one dog of approved breeds.
• Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans.
• Comfort leading students in daily devotions and Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited).
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Staff serve as role models for students.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily supervision and mentorship to students.
• Manage household routines and student schedules.
• Administer medications and ensure student wellness.
• Drive students to activities and plan development and recreational activities.
• Lead daily devotions and accompany students to Sunday Chapel.
• Oversee budgeting and household reporting.
