County Surveyor (Principal Land Surveyor)

The Principal Land Surveyor acts as the County Surveyor, managing land surveying and division activities for Sacramento County, supervising professional, technical, and clerical staff.

Knowledge of

• Land surveying principles, laws, and regulations
• Survey equipment, software, and mapping techniques
• County and state laws related to land development and boundary determination

Ability to

• Manage and supervise surveying personnel
• Interpret legal and technical documents
• Develop budgets and present policies effectively

Minimum Qualifications

Either: 2 years of experience as a Senior Land Surveyor in Sacramento County, or 4 years as an Associate Land Surveyor or higher, or 4 years supervising licensed surveyors or civil engineers with complex projects.

Valid California Driver's License and a California Land Surveyor's license are required prior to appointment.

This position requires working evenings and weekends periodically and travel throughout the county.

The probationary period is six months.
