Job summary

The County of Culpeper seeks a seasoned finance leader to plan, organize, and direct the department's financial activities. You will prepare financial reports, ensure strong internal controls, and report to County Administration.

You will oversee payroll, accounts payable, insurance programs, annual financial statements, and debt management. Collaboration with HR, DHS, and school finance is required to maintain accurate revenue, general ledger, and budget issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree equivalent plus 6 years of relevant experience in management, budgeting, and supervision.
• Experience in budget development and supervision of staff in a government finance setting.
• Knowledge of municipal financial practices, accounting, and budgeting.

Responsibilities

• Direct the daily activities and resources of the department.
• Oversee payroll processing and benefits statements and accounts payable processing.
• Oversee liability insurance program and annual financial statements prep.
• Manage debt portfolio and debt issuances; coordinate annual audit.
• Prepare departmental budgets and assist with annual county budget.
