The County Executive Director leads program and administrative operations across one or more counties, serving as the primary contact for USDA FSA programs at the local level. This role shapes how farm families access federal resources.

Responsibilities include directing day-to-day operations, implementing farm bill programs, overseeing crop insurance, and collaborating with producers and partner agencies in field and office settings.

The role

This position directly shapes how farm families and agricultural producers access federal resources.

What you’ll do

• Direct and manage day-to-day program and administrative operations for assigned county or counties.
• Carry out permanent and ad hoc farm bill programs and policies established by USDA.
• Oversee crop insurance operations under policies established by the Risk Management Agency (RMA).
• Provide basic FSA farm loan program services to eligible producers; may take on additional farm loan assignments based on delegated authorities.
• Conduct office and field activities as needed to meet program objectives — this includes getting out of the office and into the field.

About you

Required:

• Experience managing or administering government or agricultural programs.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a team and manage operational workflows.
• Familiarity with farm bill programs, crop insurance, or USDA policies — or a strong background in agriculture with the aptitude to learn quickly.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; you’ll be handling a wide range of producers, programs, and deadlines simultaneously.

Nice to have:

• Prior FSA or USDA experience.
• Background in farm lending or agricultural finance.
• Knowledge of RMA crop insurance procedures.
• Experience working with county or state-level agricultural stakeholders.
