Gains an understanding of the fiduciary roles and responsibilities of acountytreasurer’soffice,whichoperatessimilar toa financialor bankinginstitution for local governments, by managing and investing public fundsunder state law.
Conductsfieldworkatcountytreasurer’sofficesthroughout the State toexaminecompliance withtheUniform Accountingfor Arizona County Treasurers(UAMACT).
Examine the county treasurer office’sinternal control frameworkwhichincludes:the control environment,risk assessment, internal control activities, information and communication, and monitoring withinacounty treasurer’s office.
Research best practices, laws and regulations, and other applicable resources related to the county treasurer offices under review.
Evaluates essential IT systems, specifically for county treasurer offices financial systems.
Helpsmake impactful recommendations tocountytreasurer’soffices to promote better government and make a positive difference.
Follows up on recommendations annually to examineprogress and determineif recommendations areimplemented.
A bachelor’s degree, in finance, economics, business, business management, or a related field isrequired.
Entry-level positions will involve training under senior examiners.
Strong interest in public service and improving State government.
Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail,proficiencywith computer software, and excellent communication for interviewing personnel.
Prior experience with banking institutions, internal audit functions, or county treasurer operations (preferred).
Must have valid Arizona driver's license.
