Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences.
  • Equivalent combination of experience and training including 12 credits in related social sciences and one year of paraprofessional case management experience.
  • Applicants may be considered as meeting educational requirements within two months of graduating with qualifying degree/credits.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role focuses on helping clients access mental health services that support healthy social, emotional, and personal development.

As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Client Support: Assist clients in obtaining mental health services that promote positive adjustment
  • Training Participation: Take part in supervised training to learn how to deliver services as a mental health delegate
  • Regulation Compliance: Follow state and local laws, policies, and procedures related to behavioral health services
  • Community Coordination: Work with authorities, agencies, and partners to support strong outcomes for clients and families
  • Resource Knowledge: Use basic understanding of behavioral health offices to guide services for clients

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours/week
  • Work hours vary based on the position filled from this posting.
    • Position #80013169: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
    • Position #80013170: Rotating shifts on a 5-week schedule (25 working days). Must be available for all shifts. Of the 25 working days in each cycle, 9 will be in-office and 16 will be remote (telework). Shifts include 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, and 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week, after a 6-month probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
