Job Summary

The Kaua'i County Council is accepting applications for the position of County Auditor to conduct or cause to be conducted audits of all county funds, programs, and operations of any agency or operation of the county. This includes performance audits of funds and programs or operations as requested by Council resolution, and to perform all related duties including supervising and managing the office staff. This appointed position will serve for a period of six (6) years and may be extended.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct audits of all county funds, programs, and operations.
  • Perform performance audits as requested by Council resolution.
  • Supervise and manage office staff.
  • Provide related reporting and recommendations to the Council.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate degree in accounting, business administration, public administration or related field.
  • Professional proficiency demonstrated by relevant certification such as a Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Public Accountant, or an advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • Five years of experience in the field of government auditing, evaluation, or analysis.
  • Experience must be of such scope and responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Experience is calculated on a full‑time, 40‑hour work week basis; part‑time experience is pro‑rated.
Background Investigation

Persons selected for employment will be required to pass a suitability background investigation which may include an oral interview, reference check, drug screening, pre‑employment medical exam, psychological assessment, and polygraph test, as applicable.
