Job summary

Greenwood County is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable professional to serve as County Assessor, overseeing real property and mobile home assessments throughout the county and directing the Assessor’s Office staff. The ideal candidate will bring strong appraisal knowledge, extensive supervisory experience, and the ability to work with taxpayers, elected officials, and other departments.

Certification as a Residential or General Appraiser is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Ten years of appraisal experience with supervisory duties.
• Experience in local government and interacting with taxpayers.
• Certification as Residential or General Appraiser.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise the personnel and operations of the Greenwood County Assessor’s Office.
• Ensure appraisal and assessment functions are accurate, timely, and compliant with laws.
• Lead, coach, and develop staff, including performance evaluations.
• Work with Deputy Assessor and staff to meet deadlines and objectives.
• Communicate with taxpayers and resolve complex property questions.
• Compile and analyze market data to establish real estate values.
• Prepare and administer the department’s annual operating budget.
• Coordinate with Auditor, Treasurer/Tax Collector, GIS, IT, and Data Processing.
