Job description

Position Summary

3GIMBALS is seeking an experienced Counterintelligence (CI) Subject Matter Expert to provide direct, customer-facing support to a Military Department Counterintelligence Organization (MDCO). The SME will apply extensive counterintelligence investigative and/or operational experience to support Research, Development, and Acquisition (RDA) protection, helping identify and mitigate foreign intelligence threats to sensitive technologies, programs, personnel, facilities, and activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide senior-level counterintelligence subject matter expertise in direct support of MDCO and its mission partners.
  • Plan and support CI activities associated with Research, Development, and Acquisition protection.
  • Identify and assess foreign intelligence entity threats, vulnerabilities, and risks affecting sensitive technologies, programs, personnel, facilities, and activities.
  • Conduct or support CI risk and vulnerability assessments and recommend appropriate protective measures and mitigation strategies.
  • Support the development, evaluation, and implementation of CI Support Plans and related program protection activities.
  • Apply investigative and operational CI experience to ongoing customer requirements and emerging threats.
  • Support the identification and protection of Critical Program Information (CPI) and other sensitive technologies and capabilities, as applicable to customer requirements.
  • Research and analyze threat information and other relevant data to develop actionable findings, assessments, and recommendations.
  • Engage directly with senior government personnel to communicate ongoing activities, threats, findings, risks, and recommended courses of action.
  • Prepare and deliver briefings, assessments, reports, and other products for government stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with CI agents, analysts, acquisition and program personnel, security professionals, and other mission partners.
  • Adapt to changing operational priorities, schedules, and customer requirements while operating with a high degree of independence.
Required Qualifications
  • Current Top Secret (TS) security clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • 10+ years of professional counterintelligence experience supporting investigations, operations, or a combination of both.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting Research, Development, and Acquisition protection or closely related CI protection activities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of counterintelligence principles, investigative or operational tradecraft, threat identification, and risk assessment.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently assess complex information and provide well-supported recommendations.
  • Experience developing and presenting briefings, assessments, recommendations, or other products to government stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a customer-facing role and engage professionally with personnel at varying levels of seniority.
  • Ability to provide on-site support at Quantico, Virginia, as required by the customer.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience as an MDCO Agent or Analyst, particularly in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
  • Prior supervisory experience within a counterintelligence, investigative, operational, or analytic organization.
  • Experience developing or executing CI Support Plans or CI Coverage Plans.
  • Experience conducting CI risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, or threat assessments supporting RDA or program protection.
  • Knowledge of Critical Program Information (CPI), Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM), or related technology and program protection activities.
  • Familiarity with applicable DoD CI and RDA/program protection policies and frameworks.
