Position Summary
The warehouse Counterbalance Operator job functions are related to the movement of goods and materials within the facility with a forklift. The Counterbalance operators are involved in the process of loading, unloading, use of slip sheet attachment, use of layer picker(slatting/de-slatting) and overall movement of pallets within the facility.
SHIFT: This shift schedule is Wednesday through Saturday 10am- 8:30pm
Primary Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily inspections of forklifts and/or material handling equipment (MHE) to ensure safe operation and readiness for use.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary work area.
- Operate under HACCP guidelines for the safe and secure handling of fresh and frozen proteins.
- Perform pallet movement and product handling functions including loading, unloading, slip sheet attachment operations, layer picker operations (slatting/de-slatting), and other material movement activities throughout the facility.
- Utilize handheld scanners, RF devices, and lift-mounted computers to accurately process warehouse transactions and workload assignments.
- Verify inbound and outbound products by confirming item descriptions, quantities, lot numbers, production dates, expiration dates, and pallet counts against shipping and receiving documentation.
- Conduct inventory verification activities to ensure product accuracy and proper warehouse location placement.
- Complete system transactions accurately and timely to maintain inventory integrity within the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Identify, document, and report product discrepancies, damages, shortages, overages, and inventory variances to warehouse leadership.
- Assist with cycle counts, inventory audits, and physical inventory activities as assigned.
- Ensure customer-specific requirements are met during receiving, storage, verification, and shipping processes.
- Coordinate work with warehouse leadership and efficiently carry out assigned responsibilities.
- Complete required training and certification requirements for equipment operation and license renewal as required.
- Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments with temperatures ranging from +38°F to -27°F.
- Comply with company policies and procedures, as well as all customer requirements.
- Maintain and work in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Education/Experience:
- Experience preferred, but not required, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Forklift certification is not required but is desired.
Knowledge & Skill Requirements:
- Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Must have a very high level of detail and accuracy.
- Data Entry and documentation.
- The ability to work overtime and weekends as required to meet customer expectations.
- Must have a solid work ethic, excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others.
- Ability to efficiently coordinate work with co-workers and take instructions from leadership.
- Awareness of the food safety requirements and company procedures for properly handling goods and supplies.
- Ability to effectively manage time and meet all deadlines to meet customer service requirements.
- Ability to accurately verify inventory, shipping, and receiving documentation.
- Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and RF scanning technology.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify inventory discrepancies and documentation errors.
- Basic math and counting skills required for product verification, inventory reconciliation, and cycle counting.
- Ability to maintain inventory accuracy while meeting productivity expectations.
