Job summary

Advance Plumbing and Heating Supply Company is seeking a customer-focused team member for its Detroit location. You will assist customers, process payments, and support daily store operations while delivering a high level of service.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma or GED and be able to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail. Prior familiarity with plumbing/heating products is a plus.

Welcome to Advance Plumbing & Heating Supply Company, a fourth-generation family owned and operated business, started in 1920. The company's original location was at 2984 Grand River Ave. in Detroit, across from the Motor City Casino. On October 31st, 2016 we moved to our new location at 150 Parsons St. in Midtown Detroit. The new state-of-the-art location features the City of Detroit's first ever Decorative Plumbing Showroom which opened in winter of 2018.

In 1990, with a solid reputation for excellence and an expanding market, Advance opened up a second location in Walled Lake, Michigan which features a state-of-the-art 5,000-square foot decorative plumbing showroom and an outstanding plumbing & heating parts counter.

What You’ll Do:

Advance Plumbing stocks over 13,000 items from pipes, valves and fittings to faucets, sinks, shower products, water heaters and much more in order to serve the customer in a timely manner. The ability to provide the products customers' need, when they need them has remained a staple throughout the Advance Plumbing history. We are proud to provide a staff that is extremely knowledgeable and eager to help advance the success of their customers. Some Duties May Include:

• Assist customers who purchase and/or pick up merchandise
• Collect payment method using point-of-sale system
• Maintain quality of products and service while supporting customers with their inquiries
• Support team members in servicing customers, answering phone calls, stocking merchandise, and pulling orders for delivery
• Provide alternative suggestions or complementary products beyond the original order
• Maintains a neat counter area and updates product displays when applicable
• Apply existing and company provided product knowledge while showcasing competitive advantage of company service

What You Need to Get the Job Done:

• Lift up to 50 pounds
• Excellent problem-solving skills and leadership qualities
• Be capable of working in a fast-paced environment, in a customer focused role, while having a high attention to detail and speed
• Possess the drive to identify customer needs, provide profitable solutions while educating on comprehensive product knowledge
• Basic computer experience such as Microsoft Office, Point-of-Sale and another internal database software
