KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Store Counterperson position is responsible for many facets of the store's daily operation including:
- Effectively completing the day-to-day business to meet all job-related objectives aligned with the company's core values;
- Ensuring sales levels meet or exceed budgeted goals;
- Maintaining a safe and respectful environment for associates and customers at all times.
Knowledge, Skills, Duties And Abilities
- Maintaining safety standards throughout the store at all times;
- Providing high standards of customer service, including prompt handling of customer orders;
- Maintaining store appearance and merchandising as assigned;
- Possessing excellent telephone communication and etiquette skills;
- Working effectively in a fast-paced retail environment;
- Communicating effectively with peers verbally and in writing;
- Building strong relationships with colleagues, customers, and support staff;
- Following performance standards for counterpersons;
- Using resources efficiently;
- Achieving personal and store results;
- Creating positive customer experiences that reflect well on the company;
- Building customer loyalty;
- Utilizing marketing, training, and customer technology tools to increase sales and market share;
- Familiarity with computerized systems such as electronic parts catalog, inventory control, and invoicing;
- Providing high levels of customer service with working knowledge of automotive systems;
- Learning to perform shop functions like mixing paint, turning drums and rotors, and making hydraulic hoses as required;
- Taking physical inventories and line counts;
- Stocking shelves and pulling customer orders.
Conditions Of Employment
- High school diploma or GED preferred;
- Valid Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) required and must be maintained;
- Pre-employment drug test required;
- ASE Certification preferred but not required at hire;
- Adherence to company policies and procedures as outlined in employee and driver handbooks.
Work Schedule
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, and weekends as needed to provide quality service and support business growth.
Physical Demands And Working Environment
Requires standing, walking, sitting, handling, reaching, climbing, stooping, crouching, talking, hearing, and operating a vehicle. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and more with assistance. Vision and environmental conditions vary and accommodations can be made for disabilities.
