About The Role

As a Counselor, A&D, you’ll be a key part of CODA’s direct service team, helping individuals take critical steps toward recovery. In this role, you’ll carry a caseload of patients and provide individual and group counseling, case management, and skill-building sessions that empower patients to develop recovery tools and long-term stability.

You will deliver evidence-based services using a strength-based and motivational approach. You’ll coordinate care, assess risk, monitor treatment progress, and work as part of an interdisciplinary team to support patient success. Whether helping with insurance coordination, housing resources, or substance use education, you’ll make a meaningful difference in every interaction.

Qualifications

What You Will Bring

  • Education & Experience: At least two years of college or equivalent coursework in an addictions-related field, and a minimum of 6 months experience working in A&D or behavioral health settings as part of a treatment team.
  • Counseling Skills: Ability to plan treatment, deliver structured interventions, and guide patients in building core life skills critical to long-term recovery.
  • Case Management Expertise: Skilled in coordinating resources for patients including housing, employment, and follow-up care, with a demonstrated ability to build community partnerships and advocate for clients.
  • Communication & Ethics: Strong communication skills and adherence to professional ethical standards when working with diverse patient populations.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with electronic medical records and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Certifications: CADC-R required within 30 days of hire; progression to CADC-1 within two years. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Crisis Prevention certification within 90 days may be required.
  • Additional Requirements: Reliable transportation (if required), ability to lift up to 25 lbs, professional boundary maintenance, and adherence to all state and agency compliance standards.
