Job summary

Ivory Plains Recovery Center in Adair, IA seeks a Counselor Two (LCSW or LISW) to provide treatment, counseling, and support for clients recovering from addictions and mental health issues. This role emphasizes assessments, treatment planning, group sessions, and crisis intervention onsite.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor’s degree in social services, addiction, mental health or closely related field with 3+ years of post-Bachelor degree professional experience in addictions or counseling.
• OR master’s degree in social services, addictions, mental health or closely related field with 1+ years of post-Masters degree professional experience in addictions, therapy or counseling.
• Degree must be from an accredited college or university.

Responsibilities

• Conduct client assessments focusing on history, current presentation, problem areas, and ongoing clinical need for treatment and risk assessment.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of chemical dependence services required by the program.
• Prepare and carry out initial treatment planning and progress reviews; document as required.
• Lead group counseling, individual or family sessions and apply evidence-supported treatment modalities; document as required.
• Provide client and family education related to substance abuse/psychiatric problems.
• Ensure all documentation regarding client care, treatment and incidents is completed timely and clearly.
• Provide crisis intervention and counseling to clients, as needed.
• Plan for and complete required documentation of aftercare for assigned clients.
• Act as liaison with insurance carriers and referral sources.
• Provide case management duties ensuring individualized quality care.
• Conduct educational workshops within the Hospital and community as required.
• Serve as liaison with self-help groups and EAP professionals.
• Evaluate client needs to determine level of care and whether referrals to other programs/facilities are needed.

About the Job:

PURPOSE STATEMENT

The Counselor Two provides treatment, counseling, and support to assist clients in their recovery from addictions, such as alcoholism, drug addiction, or mental health disorders, assists with modifying problem behaviors; may also provide counseling services to families of clients.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Responsible for conducting client assessments focused on identifying client history, current presentation, problem areas, and ongoing clinical need for treatment and risk assessment.
• Responsible for conducting ongoing assessments of chemical dependence services required by the treatment program.
• Prepares and carries out client initial treatment planning and treatment plan progress reviews as assigned and documents as required.
• Leads assigned group counseling, individual or family sessions and implements evidence-supported treatment modalities as assigned and documents as required.
• Provides client and family education relative to substance abuse/psychiatric problems.
• Ensures all documentation regarding client care, treatment and incidents is completed timely and in a clear, concise manner.
• Provides crisis intervention and counseling to clients, as needed.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS

• Must have current and valid licensure or certifications a social worker, professional counselor, therapist or addiction counselor per state agency.
• CPR certification and de-escalation training required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility.

WORK LOCATION

This position is onsite and is not a remote position.
