Job summary

Arrowleaf is seeking a Counselor/Therapist for the Johnson County Office - Redbud. You will provide behavioral health counseling, psychiatric care coordination, and support services to clients in outpatient settings.

Responsibilities include developing treatment plans, crisis intervention, and collaboration with supervisors to ensure quality care; you may travel to community locations and participate in afterhours rotations.

Hours of Work

Full-time, 40 hours/week. Afterhours on-call rotation required.

FLSA Classification

Non-exempt

helps individuals build life skills and well-being through behavioral health counseling, psychiatric care, and other care coordination and support services.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Human Services or related field; Masters Degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
  • Qualifies as a Mental Health Professional (MHP).
  • Qualifies as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) is preferred.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Knowledge of various behavioral and human development theories and practices; ability to understand mental health and substance use diagnoses, treatment planning processes, and evidence-based curriculums.
  • Knowledge of local health and human services resources; knowledge of basic crisis intervention and conflict resolution techniques.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; excellent computer skills; ability to work with diverse populations.
Special Requirements
  • Travels to off-site/community-based locations for direct service delivery.
  • Participates in after-hours crisis response rotation.
  • Ability to schedule evening appointments.
  • Maintains and provides proof of a valid driver's license.
  • Maintains and provides proof of personal vehicle liability insurance.
  • At least 21 years of age.
Job Duties
  • Intervenes and evaluates consumers, establishes diagnosis.
  • Develops treatment plan collaboratively with consumers by defining goals, specific outcomes, and time frames for treatment.
  • Intervenes therapeutically to change attitudes, beliefs and behaviors of consumers to improve individual and family level of functioning.
  • Provides crisis intervention to stabilize consumer's condition by utilizing short term crisis intervention techniques and/or referral to other support services.
  • Maintains networking and referral contacts with other human service providers both internally and externally.
  • Completes required monthly direct service hours to consumers as defined on Direct Service Requirement sheet.
  • Carries a caseload as assigned by supervisor.
  • Facilitates comprehensive consumer care by providing case management services.
  • Effectively teaches life-management skills to consumers.
  • Provides and arranges transportation services to consumers which they translate to their natural environment.
  • Demonstrates active involvement in supervision and clinical staffing.
  • Ability to screen, assess and provide interventions for consumers that are exhibiting symptoms of trauma.
  • Other duties as assigned.
