Job summary

Outreach Development Corporation is seeking a Counselor at our Brentwood, NY location to deliver and implement long-term supervision, support, and clinical services for chemically dependent adolescents with co-occurring mental health issues. • Communicate all pertinent information and incidents using the appropriate system (SAC communications, incident reports).
• Provide supervision of client population and facilitate daily house schedule and service groups.
• Conduct toxicology testing as needed.
• Ensure Medicaid compliance and report non-compliance to the supervisor.

Salary Range: $24.00 To $30.00 Hourly

The Counselor is responsible for the delivery and implementation of long-term supervision, support, and clinical services to a population of chemically dependent adolescents with co-occurring ad mental health problems.

This position is based at our Men's Residential Center located at 998 Crooked Hill Road, Brentwood, NY

• Initial and ongoing screening of resident and resident property in accordance with unit procedure.
• Supervise clients in self-medication (under supervision).
• Complete assessments, intakes, and participates in level of care determined by gathering appropriate data, orienting client to his/her rights and responsibilities and program expectations.
• Facilitate admission/referral to other programs or agencies for clients in need of services not offered at unit.
• Provide individual, group, and/or family counseling services in a professional, ethical, and competent manner.
• Manages all aspects of assigned caseload during treatment, with special attention to appropriate levels of care and appropriate clinical interventions.
• Complete all needed documentation and reports in a timely manner.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with referents and other collateral contacts (i.e. Probation, Parole, CPS, managed care, E.A.P.’s, courts. Etc.) through timely written, phone, computerized, or other responses.
• Maintain communication and teamwork with clinical staff to integrate and enhance clinical services.
• Communicate all pertinent information, incidents, and emergencies using the appropriate system including the SAC communication long, incident reports, and/or elopement reports.
• Provide overall supervision and management of client population in the facilitation of the daily house schedule.
• Facilitate service groups.
• Conduct toxicology testing, as needed.
• Exercise due diligence in the delivery of quality care in line with the agency Medicaid Compliance Plan and systems of accountability.
• Insure communication through the compliance officer and/or the supervisory structure of any violation of non-compliance with the agency’s Medicaid compliance plan and personnel policy and procedure.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• CASAC-T, CASAC, or higher preferred.
• 1 year of experience working with clients with substance abuse disorders.
• 1 year of experience working with adolescents with co-occurring and mental health problems.
• 1 year of experience working in an OASAS funded facility a plus.
