Job summary

Community Health Alliance-Ohio seeks an experienced Counselor or Social Worker to provide behavioral health counseling in a residential substance treatment setting. The role emphasizes trauma-informed care, group and individual therapy, and care coordination with an interdisciplinary team.

Position is weekend-based (Saturdays and/or Sundays), with 4–8 hours per day and mileage reimbursement for travel to Hamilton and Franklin. Compensation depends on education, experience, and licensure.

Qualifications

  • CDC-A (Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant) certification in Ohio
  • 6 months of counseling experience (individual and group)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Office, Outlook, Teams)
  • Ability to navigate electronic health record systems
  • Supports harm reduction and MAT as best practice

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes a trauma-informed approach to client care.
  • Performs individual, group and crisis intervention counseling and therapy.
  • Conducts assessments and formulates diagnostic impressions via interviews.
  • Facilitates group therapy using evidence-based curricula.
  • Develops client-centered treatment plans based on client needs.
  • Assists clients in crisis with appropriate interventions.
  • Develops transition and discharge plans.
  • Engages family in treatment and discharge planning.
  • Maintains timely documentation in the EMR.

Community Health Alliance is seeking an experienced Counselor or Social Worker to provide behavioral health counseling to individuals and groups in a residential substance treatment facility setting. This position is ideal for a dedicated professional who is passionate about working with those struggling with substance use disorders and believes in recovery utilizing an evidenced based multi-disciplinary team approach.

This position is a weekend position for Saturdays and/or Sundays. Hours are flexible and would be between 4-8 hours per day. Driving to Hamilton and Franklin would be required and mileage reimbursement and compensation for travel time included.

Compensation is based on level of education, experience and licensure.

What You'll Do
  • Utilizes a trauma-informed approach to client care.
  • Performs individual, group and crisis intervention counseling and therapy.
  • Conducts assessments and formulates diagnostic impressions by conducting individual/family interviews.
  • Facilitates group therapy utilizing evidence-based curricula.
  • Develop client-centered treatment plans based on the needs, strengths, abilities and preferences of the client.
  • Assists clients in crisis by evaluating and providing appropriate interventions.
  • Develops plans for transition and discharge.
  • Engages family and supportive others in treatment, transition and discharge planning processes.
  • Evaluates clients’ progress towards goals, utilizes motivational enhancement strategies and determines appropriate interventions/modalities based on the individualized needs of each client.
  • Promotes participation in self-help and recovery support groups.Effectively communicates and coordinates with treatment team members and referral sources.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, concise and timely documentation in the electronic medical record in accordance with agency policy and regulatory standards.
Minimum Qualifications
  • CDC-A (Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant) certification in the State of Ohio
  • Must have 6 months of experience providing individual and group counseling services
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 applications, including Office Suite, Outlook and Teams
  • Adept at learning and navigating electronic health record systems
  • Adopts a harm reduction philosophy and supports the utilization of medication-assisted treatments as a best practice
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred candidates who hold a LCDCII, LCDCIII, LSW, LPC, LICDC, LISW or LPCC license
  • Preferred candidate will hold an Associates/Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counseling, or a related Human Service Field or equivalency
  • Knowledge of the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual) and ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) criteria
  • Knowledge of and experience cognitive behavioral therapeutic modalities and trauma-informed care
