Los Angeles Community College District seeks a Counselor, General for the Rising Scholars/Juvenile Justice Scholars program. This 12-month, 1.0 FTE temporary assignment works at ELAC campuses and at detention facilities to support justice-involved students and coordinate program partnerships.

The role emphasizes face-to-face and online counseling, academic planning, orientations, and collaboration with faculty and external partners to promote equity and student success.

Formación

• Master’s degree or higher in counseling or related field or equivalent.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse backgrounds and equity considerations.

Responsabilidades

• Provide comprehensive face-to-face and online academic and career counseling to Juvenile Justice Scholars (JJS) student population, primarily on-site at the juvenile hall, but also on-campus; interpret the college catalog, schedule of classes and articulation agreements.
• Assist students in choosing and planning educational goals and develop student education plans (SEP) to support timely degree completion.
• Conduct new student orientations and present workshops for student success and onboarding.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to design strategies that improve access, enrollment, retention and completion for justice-involved students.
