Job summary

Center For Family Services is seeking a Counselor for Family Preservation Services in Camden County, NJ. The position carries a $500 sign-on bonus and a full-time salary range of $50,500 to $53,500 per year.

You will manage a caseload of 2-3 families, be reachable for crises, and refer clients to longer-term services. The role includes collaboration with DCP&P and community partners, ongoing trainings, and regular follow-up assessments to monitor progress.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Social Work or related field preferred; commensurate experience may be acceptable.
  • Doctorate in Social Work preferred.
  • LSW or LCSW preferred.

Job Type/Status: Full Time

Salary: $50,500 to $53,500 per year

Responsibilities
  • Maintains a caseload of 2-3 families, utilizing FPS program model and providing concrete services if necessary.
  • Counselor must be directly accessible to families 24 hours a day/7 days a week in the event of a crisis.
  • Assists families by actively referring them to appropriate longer term services and support, if necessary.
  • Works cooperatively with staff from DCP&P and other community agencies, especially regarding case management issues.
  • Participate in on-going trainings provided by DCP&P.
  • Conducts 3, 6, and 12 month follow-ups of families to determine success of FPS intervention.
  • Assists in the assessment, planning, arranging, and implementing of psychosocial programs.
  • Counsels patients and interprets to professional and lay groups the special psychosocial needs of patients by identifying psychosocial disorders.
  • Provides within program objectives, a variety of direct counseling services using individual, family and group methods; utilizes a full range of treatment / intervention skills and techniques with an emphasis on crisis intervention, intensive family therapy, trauma informed and behavior modification.
  • Formulates and implements treatment plans based on the preparation of complete, technical and highly perceptive diagnostic evaluations; evaluates client's progress and modifies counseling services accordingly.
  • Organizes and carries out a work schedule which consistently adapts to the varying needs of assignment.
  • Completes promptly and accurately all statistical and other reports required for supervisory and administrative purposes, and records case material promptly.
  • Maintains a high volume of work with efficiency and balance in a wide range of cases.
  • Reviews case activities and treatment of children, adults, and families served, as well as progress in professional development and growth objectives with supervisor.
  • Participates in and may conduct professional seminars, workshops, etc. or in-service training programs.
  • Interprets the program to community groups or organizations, and represents the Agency in selected activities related to its goals.
  • Provides individual, family, and/or group treatment, intake and assessment, advocacy, and case management on site and in the community.
  • Coordinates diagnostic activities with appropriate consulting staff.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Social Work or related field preferred, commensurate experience in relevant field may be acceptable in lieu of degree.
    • Doctorate Degree in Social Work or related field, preferred
    • LSW or LCSW preferred
  • Three or more years of experience working with the program population.
    • Five or more years of experience working with the program population, preferred
  • Current driver's license with a driving record of at least three years.
    • Vehicle with current insurance and registration
