Position Summary:

Center For Family Services is seeking a full-time, experienced professional who is passionate about workforce development and creating a successful career pathway for individuals who have lost their primary source of income due to divorce, separation, death, or disability of a spouse. The CMCC assists participants with job readiness preparation, including resume development, interview preparation, time management, financial literacy, and computer instruction. The CMCC will work with participants to complete an assessment that will determine barriers to employment. The program includes career readiness skills training through individual counseling sessions and group facilitation workshops to prepare participants for today's job market and connect them with career opportunities. The CMCC identifies and builds relationships with resource providers to help alleviate client barriers and with employers to expand career opportunities. The CMCC will support Center For Family Services' workforce development efforts through coordinating and supporting clear and viable pathways to success in the workforce. The position will serve at least 90 participants per County.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Complete program enrollment eligibility assessment to include a review of the client's overall social, training, and employment needs.
  • Evaluate an individual's background, skills, and interests to match potential job openings or training programs.
  • Coordinate career one-to-one counseling, goal development, evaluation, skill training, job-readiness training, resume development, interviewing techniques, job retention strategies, and other activities within individual settings related to employment transition.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with employers, industry organizations, and public agencies to source job openings and secure employment and vocational training opportunities for clients.
  • Support clients with their job search and career placement. Match applicant skills and experience with the employer's requirements. Coach and prepare participants for interviews and entry into the workforce. Identify barriers to employment. Assist individuals with job application(s) and interview preparation processes
  • Conduct follow-up visits to monitor client's job performance.
  • Provide individualized case management, to include monitoring and recording information in data system
  • Assists with statistical reports and essential documentation required for successful administrative purposes, and record case materials promptly and properly
  • Develop community partnerships with local agencies to provide additional services/resources for participants
  • Maintain weekly contact with participants to track their progress to interview readiness
  • Coordinate career-related workshops and targeted job fairs
  • Work closely with internal CFS staff and partners to provide seamless services to participants
  • Recommend educational materials or resources to participants to enhance job readiness
  • Create lesson plans for computer instruction. Conduct three (3) 40-hour computer classes per grant year.
  • Create a monthly calendar and flyers to promote program activities
  • Identify and staff community outreach/recruitment opportunities
  • Create and deliver six (6) job series workshops per grant year. Topics include but are not limited to resume development, job search process, interviewing skills & techniques, dress for the interview, and job placement & retention.
  • Provide follow-up services to participants
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule to include some weekends and evenings.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in vocational counseling or social work, or related field, commensurate experience in the relevant field may be acceptable in lieu of a degree.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a large participant case load (active & follow-up clients) in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a leadership role with participants to motivate and influence positive behaviors.
  • Certificate programs inCareeror LifeCoaching preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience working with the program population. Workforce development with job placement experience strongly preferred.
  • One to two years of experience working with the re-entry population is a plus.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and online database systems, preferably Awards.
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish a plus.
  • Experience in developing new employer relationships to increase employment opportunities.
  • Current driver's license & a good driving record of 3 years.
  • Vehicle with current insurance and registration.
