Job Description
This position is for the 2026-2027 school year.
The Counselor, Elementary School, is responsible for coordinating and implementing the school’s counseling services program to include academic advisement and counseling, developmental guidance, career development, and parent/community involvement.

Responsibilities
- Provide an ongoing program of individual, small group, and large group counseling services in the areas of social/personal development, academic advisement, and career awareness per national standards established by the American School Counselor Association.
- Consult and work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, school personnel, district personnel, parents, and community agencies to meet the counseling and educational planning needs of elementary school students.
- Interpret and utilize school records, including cognitive, aptitude, and achievement tests, for educational planning and evaluate student records and transcripts.
- Address individual student needs and refer students to appropriate school and community resources.
- Provide preventive and responsive services, including crisis counseling as needed, and address student mental health needs as appropriate.
- Facilitate involvement of parents in the education of their students, including assisting in parent/teacher/counselor conferences.
- Assist students in developing self-understanding, self-acceptance, and effective interpersonal skills.
- Provide information about appropriate community resources.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.

Certificates / Licenses / Registrations
Florida Professional Educator Certificate: Guidance and Counseling (Grades PK‑12) is required.
Language / Mathematical / Reasoning / Computer Skills
- Language Skills: Reads, analyzes, and interprets all kinds of documents; writes speeches and presents effectively.
- Mathematical Skills: Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides in all units; computes rate, ratio, percent; draws and interprets bar graphs.
- Reasoning Ability: Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in limited standardization situations; interprets instructions.
- Computer Skills: Microsoft Office.
Physical Demands
- Stand, walk, sit, handle, keyboard, talk, and hear.
- Lift up to 10 pounds.
- Reach with both dominant and non‑dominant hand overhead.
- Environmental Conditions: Noise intensity moderate.
- Other Requirements: Requires traveling to various school sites, work locations, and/or community organizations throughout the district.
