Summary: 25 - 26 School Year

The Counselor, Elementary School, is responsible for coordinating and implementing the school’s counseling services program, including academic advisement, developmental guidance, career development, and parent/community involvement.

  • Maintain the professional knowledge and skills necessary to perform essential duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing individual, small group, and large group counseling services in social/personal development, academic advisement, and career awareness per the American School Counselor Association standards.
  • Collaborate with administrators, teachers, school personnel, parents, and community agencies to meet counseling and educational planning needs.
  • Interpret and utilize school records for educational planning and evaluate student transcripts.
  • Address individual student needs and refer students to appropriate resources.
  • Provide preventive and responsive services, including crisis counseling and mental health support.
  • Facilitate parental involvement and assist in parent/teacher/counselor conferences.
  • Help students develop self-understanding, self-acceptance, and interpersonal skills.
  • Provide information about community resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Information:

  • Must have a Florida Professional Educator Certificate: Guidance and Counseling (Grades PK-12).
  • Proficiency in reading, interpreting documents, and effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic math and reasoning skills.
  • Ability to travel to various school sites and community organizations.
  • Physical activities include standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing.
