Position Information

Position Title: Counselor - Camp Achieve

About this Opportunity: Camp Achieve is a day camp for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, aged 6-12, offering innovative programming and therapeutic activities to enhance social, behavioral, and academic skills. Counselors will participate in planning and executing daily activities and supervise campers directly. Training includes certification in Professional Crisis Management, with camp running from June 9 to July 15, 2025, and additional activities through July 18.

Compensation and Hours
  • Salary Grade: Not specified
  • Wages Begin At: $17.00/hour
  • FLSA: Non-Exempt
  • Hours/Week: 40
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Experience working in a camp setting
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel for long periods
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and relate well to children with autism and their families
  • Willingness to participate in staff development activities
  • Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR certification and Professional Crisis Management certification
  • Comfortable assisting campers in the pool and with physical care tasks
  • Must be 18 years or older
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with children with and without disabilities
  • Experience writing lesson plans and teaching swimming
Additional Information

Position responsibilities include supervising campers, implementing behavior support plans, facilitating transitions, developing rapport with campers and families, monitoring development, participating in training, serving as a role model, assisting with activities of daily living, and participating in parent conferences. Regular attendance is required.
